Every year, Tahoe's Connection for Families tries to give the community a unique experience to say "Thanks for supporting us!"

Since COVID-19 is preventing in-person gatherings, we are instead offering an opportunity to stream the inspiring documentary "Crossing Bhutan" and meet via Zoom with three of the film's creators.

Please register ahead of time, and we will provide a voucher to view the movie for free. You can then meet us on Zoom for an inspiring chat!

About the Film

Drawn by the allure of the Himalayan Buddhist Kingdom of Bhutan, four veteran athletes attempt an unprecedented human-powered, border-to-border crossing, hoping to experience Bhutan’s unique policy of Gross National Happiness first hand.

When the demands of the grueling 42-day, 485-mile journey push the team beyond their breaking point, they must confront the challenge inherent in walking what Buddhist’s call the Middle Path - embracing the benefits of our fast-paced modern life while still honoring the ancient traditions and values that makes Bhutan so unique.

Meet the Speakers

Get to know a little about the three adventurers who will be speaking on our Q+A session on March 30.

Terri Schneider

Terri Schneider is an athlete, explorer, coach, consultant, writer, and speaker. As an adventure racer, ultra runner, and professional triathlete for ten years, she has explored over 70 remote and challenging countries

In the 2011 she led Expedition Bhutan, a 4-person unprecedented crossing of the country. The team trekked and mountain biked challenging terrain while filming Crossing Bhutan.

Terri returned to Bhutan in 2012 to volunteer with the Bhutan Olympic Committee. Her work supporting Youth and Olympic Sports in Bhutan continues today.

Ben Henretig

Ben Henretig co-founded Micro-Documentaries Production Company. Henretig has directed and filmed hundreds of short films for world-changing organizations, including the Clinton Global Initiative, TED and (RED).

In 2011, Henretig joined a team of four adventure athletes on a quest to cross the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan by foot and bike. The journey gave rise to Crossing Bhutan, a feature-length documentary that explores what people in the West can learn from Bhutan's unique policy of "Gross National Happiness" - living happier, more meaningful lives.

Tony Lillios

Tony Lillios is an executive coach and entrepreneur that has lived in Incline for over 10 years. When his friend and elite athlete, Terri Schneider, asked ask Tony join the unprecedented crossing of Bhutan, Tony readily accepted.

Tony is an 9-time Ironman athlete, open water swimmer, and an outdoorsman. He has founded five businesses, most notably Speck Products, and facilitates growth in the organizations he now serves.

Tony served as TCF's Board treasurer for 3 years and has recently joined the board of Parks California, seeking to increase access and inclusion to the entire California state park system.
